– CA Speaker Anthony Rendon
Dear friends and neighbors,
Anthony Rendon, Speaker of California’s State Assembly, has endorsed my campaign for Long Beach Unified School District’s Board of Education, District 3!
I want to thank Speaker Rendon for his endorsement and for all of the work he has done to improve the lives of California’s residents. Speaker Rendon has proudly represented the residents of the 63rd District in the California State Assembly (which includes Lakewood and the northern portion of Long Beach) and was sworn-in as the 70th Speaker of the Assembly in March 2016. In his first year as Speaker, the Assembly passed a series of landmark progressive legislation, including the nation’s first $15 minimum wage, extension of California’s climate change reduction goals, overtime pay for farmworkers, and groundbreaking policies on gun and tobacco use.
In addition, the Speaker’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Early Childhood Education is a policy driven body tasked with developing strategic solutions to improve outcomes for some of California’s youngest learners and their families. The concept for the Commission was created as an effort to strategically plan improvements to the underfunded and struggling early learning system. The ultimate goal is to provide more services to needy families and kids across the state through a sustainable system.
Speaker Rendon stated, “This coming election year we’ll be faced with many difficult choices. For Long Beach Unified School District’s School Board, the choice is easy and clear: Juan Benitez.”
I’m looking forward to working with Speaker Rendon and our California State Assembly to make sure that Long Beach schools and students get the funding and support that our students need and deserve, and ensure that ALL students have equitable opportunities to succeed and achieve their dreams.
