Students Come First… Students should always be our first priority.

As a product of public education from kindergarten through my doctoral degree at UCLA, I know the powerful impact that a high-quality, public education can provide a family and a community. I will fight to make sure that our students and schools have the right resources, programs, and policies in place to make LBUSD even stronger during these challenging times.

As a parent of a kindergartener in Long Beach Unified School District, I want the same thing that all parents want for their children: for them to succeed and achieve their dreams. I will fight for ALL students — particularly the most vulnerable — to make sure they ALL have the same opportunities to succeed and achieve their dreams.

As an educator with over twenty years of experience in higher education, I know what students need to be college and career ready. My commitment is to equitable opportunities that lead to achievement, academic success and the well-being of ALL students.

I will focus on:

EVERY student and EVERY school having the right resources, equipment, programs and support in place to be successful.

Maintaining safe and secure schools that provide enriching learning environments where ALL students are challenged and provided opportunities to thrive from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through graduation and beyond.

Working with parents and community members as partners in our children’s success. This means using creative, community-based solutions, and creating stronger partnerships between schools, parents and the Long Beach community.

Implementing policies that uphold a commitment to student safety, rigorous and equitable programing, and evidence-based student success strategies from TK through graduation.

As a parent in Long Beach, an educator at Long Beach State, and a product of public education from kindergarten through my doctoral degree at UCLA, I understand – first-hand- the importance and impact that a high-quality, public education can have on families and communities. Please join me in making sure that ALL students have equal opportunity to succeed and achieve their dreams during these challenging times.
