LBUSD’s District 3

As of 2022, Our Long Beach Unified School District has a new look to it because of our redistricting* process. Our school district is divided up into 5 areas/districts. Each area is represented by a different School Board Member.

I have the honor of representing area/district 3. As a result of redistricting*, each of our respective 5 areas/districts have changed. We have a new district map and area/district 3 map. Please make sure to check out our new area/district 3 map to make sure which area/district of our school district you live in.

*Redistricting is the process by which a school district ensures population balance in each of its Board of Education areas. Board areas must be made as equal in population as possible and practicable so that communities have equal access to political representation. In the Long Beach Unified School District, there are five (5) board member areas. After every Census, school districts are required to…

1) Review the population data to determine if their board areas are still within the allowable variance.

2) Make any necessary adjustments to the areas to ensure population balance.

The 2021 redistricting effort concluded in December 2021 with new (redrawn) board areas for the June 7, 2022 primary elections. The input of the community was critical to creating a new school district map that provides fair and effective representation for all members of the District.

Check out our new school district map:
